Matemwe Beach Village    Matemwe Beach Village is a Zanzibari guesthouse – not a hotel and not a resort and we regard this as a matter of pride. At Matemwe Beach we have guests and not clients, they relax; make themselves at home amongst our books, games and huge cushions. They make great friends amongst the staff and amongst the other guests. Our aim is a simple one: to provide authentic, stylish and comfortable accommodation, in an atmosphere of relaxed hospitality and friendliness, while services are provided effectively and efficiently. We live in peaceful co-existence with the villagers who conduct their lives amongst us. Location: On the north-east coast, 45 minutes away from Stone Town and an hour from the airport on a good tarmac road. Rooms Standard Rooms x 14 Simple rooms furnished in beach style with shades of blue and green. Self-contained bathrooms and lots of little extras to make the stay more comfortable. Shamba Suites x 5 Funky and romantic, spacious and stylish the five Shamba Suites offer a couple or small family space to relax and enjoy themselves Matemwe Beach style. Asali Suite x 1 The ultimate romantic choice – usually booked by honeymooners or those wanting to celebrate their love this suite is completely self-contained: your own chef, plunge pool and beach ensure you never have to leave your luxurious seclusion. From the standard rooms to Asali our approach was simple: what do we need and want when we are on holiday. This has resulted in thoughtful touches like beach baskets, sunhats, sarongs and bottled water. Wining and Dining Our restaurant caters for all meals as well as offering a small snack menu available at the pool bar and all during the day. Daily menus are small but carefully planned to please all seafood lovers, non-seafood lover and vegetarians. And we have a few surprises in store – where will dinner be tonight? We offer a good selection of South African wines, Tanzanian beers and the usual spirits and mixes. Relaxing around Matemwe We know you don’t want to be in your room or the sun all day. The suites all have plenty of chilled spots in which to relax and the standard rooms have verandas, but there are many communal areas as well. The coffee corner, the cushion lounge, the dhow lounge and the pool bar as well as shady beach bandas. Beach and Swimming Pool Those photos you see of long white beaches, aqua waters and swaying palm trees…. At Matemwe Beach that is our reality! As the entire east coast is tidal we have built a swimming pool (well two!) for our guests comfort. This also makes learning to scuba dive so much easier. However Matemwe Beach is about the beach so the pool is discreetly located and not the centre of attention. Diving and Snorkeling One Ocean our 5 star PADI Dive center organizes diving, dive courses and snorkeling from their dive centre within our premises. They conduct daily excursions to the famous Mnemba Atoll. Excursions We assist guests in planning and booking excursions.
