The Shooting Star Lodge is a tranquil oasis, a delightful refuge from the world where you will escape the incessant chatter of the city...
Just 40 km from Stone Town on the north East Coast, The Shooting Star Lodge is nestled on a headland amidst lush tropical gardens with breathtaking, panoramic views across Kiwengwa Beach and the Indian Ocean.
Choice of accommodation includes luxury cottages with verandahs overlooking the ocean, or comfortable lodge rooms with terraces opening onto the gardens.
Our ten Sea View Cottages are light, spacious en-suite rooms built in keeping with traditional Zanzibari styles of architecture with airy, high beamed ceilings, large windows and air-conditioning. All have traditionally carved wooden Zanzibari beds, with beautifully dyed mosquito net canopies and matching Tanzanian ‘vintage’ bed covers, along with coconut wood wall mirrors and other hand-made teak wood furniture. Four of our Sea View Cottages are set out on two levels and are ideal; for families: the ground floor has a large air-conditioned double bedroom, shower room and separate closet, and a staircase leads up to a twin children’s room in the roof space, whist there is a separate wash basin area on the upper level, the shower and toilet are shared with the ground floor. The upper level has ceiling and table fans only.
Our four Lodge Rooms are smaller and more simply furnished some with Zanzibari beds. They have ceiling and table fans and are also en-suite.
All rooms have wall lights, bedside lamps and electric ceiling fans. Our bathrooms are equipped with overhead showers with both hot and cold running water. The pathways between cottages and down the steps to the beach are also illuminated at night for guests’ safety and comfort.
Our restaurant has a long-standing reputation for fine food, a cozy, intimate atmosphere and warm friendly service. The Tanzanian chef specializes in seafood, grills and traditional Zanzibari cuisine, as well as a fine selection of vegetarian dishes.
Christmas 2004 saw the opening of our new swimming pool. The first Salt water infinity pool on the island. Located on the cliff some 10 meters above the beach, this pool has spectacular views over the beach and towards the coral reef and onto the Indian Ocean beyond.
